Amuru District Local Government has recorded a significant improvement in local revenue collection, marking success in the second year of implementing the Integrated Revenue Administration System (IRAS).
The system, launched on May 8, 2023, has shown tangible results after two years of operation. During its inaugural financial year (FY 2022/23), the district collected 557.7 million UGX. However, this was followed by a dip in revenue to 367 million UGX in the subsequent financial year (FY 2023/24). Notably, in the current financial year (FY 2024/25), revenue collections have rebounded to 520 million UGX, demonstrating a promising recovery.
Speaking at a meeting with the Ministry of Local Government held at the district headquarters on Thursday, Commissioner Mr. Koma Stephen commended the district for its achievements. He urged local authorities to sustain the momentum and aim for even greater revenue collection in the coming years.
To commemorate this milestone, the district held a tree-planting event at the headquarters, led by Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Otai Charles.
